For sailors, one of the best things about living on an island off mid-coast Maine is that there are dozens of beautiful island destinations in any direction that the wind would take you.  One of our family favorites is Frenchboro.

Last summer during an overnight in the harbor we went to the village for a lobster dinner.  When we arrived at the tiny store/restaurant, there were half a dozen HUGE claws hanging on nails above the counter – objects of speculation and amazement! They were the perfect segue to an interesting conversation with the purveyor of our dinner; about fishing stories and life on Frenchboro.  It was a fun evening.  By the end of dinner I was invited to leave with a claw of my choosing.  I chose this one.
